Check email once per day. Treat it as a tool, not a taskmaster.
My Goals
Why this matters
At 70, my time is more precious than ever. These are the habits I keep and the boundaries I enforce so the remaining years are focused, calm, and meaningful.
8 Ways I Still Lose Time
- No consistent routine
- Procrastination
- Poor planning
- No clear daily schedule
- Disorganization
- Saying yes to too many things
- Not delegating tasks
- Allowing distractions to interrupt focus
Commitment: I will say NO more often and protect my time.
My Rules
Television
No cable, no background noise. Watch intentionally — not to fill time.
Helping Others
Your problems are not my problems. I will not rescue people from situations they created.
Social Media
Check social media once a day, for no more than one hour. No endless scrolling.
Cell Phone
If I don't recognize your number, it goes to voicemail. Get to the point; protect my attention.
Use the OFF Button
Power down devices when I need focus or rest. The off switch is free and effective.
Plan and Delegate
Make a simple plan each evening for the next day. Delegate tasks that others can do.
Boundaries
Set clear start/stop times for work, calls, and obligations. Protect my schedule.
Context
We have lived through pandemics and economic uncertainty. I prepare by staying informed, studying history, and keeping my life simple and intentional.
168 Hours
Every week has 168 hours. I choose how to spend them. My goals: guard time, limit distractions, say no more often, and focus on what matters.
