Portrait of Ted Lee

Ted Lee

Veteran · Diver · Advisor · Writer · Still Learning

Born in Montreal, raised in Vancouver. I spent my working life as a soldier, deep sea diver, financial advisor, and technology professional. I am now retired and in my sunset years, using this website to share the knowledge and hard-won lessons that a lifetime of experience has given me.

I built these pages for my daughters, for my family, and for anyone who wants to understand how money, power, and institutions actually work. Everything here is free. I have no clients, no sponsors, and nothing to sell.

"Freedom Through Knowledge."

I am fully retired. My mutual funds licence (BC/AB) and insurance broker licence (BC) are no longer active. My Level 3 Advanced First Aid certification (WorkSafe BC) is also retired. I do not manage money for anyone, I do not provide financial, legal, or tax advice, and I am not registered with any securities regulatory authority. Everything on this website is educational — offered as one person's perspective, not professional counsel. Please consult qualified professionals for your own decisions.

Privacy & Security

I have experienced identity theft incidents over a period of approximately 30 years, including exposure in large-scale data breaches. These experiences have profoundly shaped my approach to privacy and digital security.

I publish practical, actionable guides on protecting yourself online — not theory, but steps I actually use every day. I recommend hardware firewalls, decentralised VPNs, password managers, and minimising your personal attack surface.

My approach: I share what works for me. I do not give advice. Your situation is different from mine, and you should make your own decisions based on your own research. See Why I Don't Give Advice.

Interests & Writing

I discovered Bitcoin in 2013, and it reshaped my understanding of money, sovereignty, and institutional trust. I write about financial sovereignty, sustainable economics, digital self-determination, and the systems that shape people's lives — often without their knowledge.

My aim is to help people learn by doing, not by following rigid prescriptions. I share frameworks, questions, and research — never "do exactly this."
